Skinheads attack Jewish Agency employee’s son

Just a reminder that it’s not only Muslim fanatics that hate Jews. This was a brutal, blatant act of anti-Semitism in St. Petersburg that has left a child in the hospital. My heart goes out to the family and the victim.

Let this serve as a reminder that calls of “Death to Jews” and “Hitler was right” can and will quickly escalate into actions:

MOSCOW (JTA) – Two young men dressed in skinhead gear attacked the son of a Jewish Agency employee.

The young man was taken Monday night to the hospital with a head injury, according to a report posted Friday on Fontanka.ru.

Two people dressed in military clothes with close-cropped hair crossed the main road in St. Petersburg, Nevsky Prospekt, to confront the son of the Jewish Agency employee and his friend.

The young man, who was not named in the report, fell and hit his head causing serious injury. The attackers continued to kick him in the legs.

The whole incident played out in front of dozens of witnesses, and the skinheads ran as soon as the signal to cross the street changed to green, according to Fontanka.ru.

Bystanders then picked up the victim and took him to a doctor. The mother of the victim said her son remains hospitalized with a brain injury.

And don’t think for a second that this is a rare, isolated incident. The JTA also reports today that a Ukrainian Parliament speaker is concerned about a rise in neo-Nazism in Ukraine, and yesterday there was a rather large neo-Nazi rally in Slovakia.
